General Summary:
Develop, load, and troubleshoot PLC and safety controller programs for Hofmann balancing machines. Develop PLC programs according to the Hofmann standard PLC Structure and make changes on existing machine code as needed for machine functionality. Troubleshoot and assist testing in finishing the machines to achieve required functionality and operation.
Primary Responsibilities:
Review work orders & understand machine functionality to develop or modify robust controls logic
Interpret and advise electrical schematics to ensure electrical circuits are complete
Work on cross functional engineering team to evaluate & select machine inputs & outputs
Configure PLC’s, safety controllers, motor drives and other electrical controls equipment
Apply Engineering principles in understanding and providing automated solutions for balancing machines
Support sales with concepts and labor estimates for custom PLC software integration
Work alongside Electrical engineers to specify electrical hardware for panel design
Improve or develop standard PLC machine controls logic for Universal Balance machines
Assist Senior Engineers on automated projects with HMI screens, network design, & configuring devices
Provide status updates on projects and maintain schedule deadlines
Support Testing department and Electricians in troubleshooting electrical controls circuits
Provide remote support to service teams in troubleshooting controls related problems at customer sites
Light travel (< 10%) may be necessary to occasionally support installation of machines at customer sites
Skills / Knowledge Requirements:
Strong interpersonal communication skills to work effectively across the entire business team
Problem solving and PLC troubleshooting skills with industrial machines
Basic understanding of Controls Engineering Principles, Relay logics, and PLC Ladder Logic
Basic understanding of Motor & Drive tuning principles
Innovative & driven to learn new skills, technologies, and products
Knowledge on safety equipment and standards for safety on automated machines
Education / Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related Electrical & Controls field
Experience interpreting & writing Industrial PLC Software (Allen Bradley, Omron, Siemens)
Fluency reading & interpreting Electrical Circuits (AutoCAD Electrical or Eplan)
