As a Skullcandy Product Quality Engineer you will be responsible for overseeing the quality assurance processes for multiple new products launching in a season.

This role involves developing and implementing quality plans, conducting tests reliability modeling, and managing all sustaining quality assurance activities throughout the lifecycle of the product.

As a member of the Product Development team, the engineer will work closely with engineering, program managers, product managers, industrial designer, sourcing, and overseas contract manufacturers to ensure product quality.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in consumer electronics, experience managing quality processes across international supply chains, and a proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high standards.

Key Responsibilities: Quality Assurance Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive quality assurance plans for consumer electronics products, including detailed testing protocols, inspection criteria, and judgement standards.

Ensure that quality plans are effectively executed and are aligned with product specifications and industry requirements.

Work closely with product development, engineering, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration of quality requirements throughout the product lifecycle.

Product Testing: Design and execute test plans that cover various aspects of product performance, reliability, and durability for both hardware and firmware requirements.

Perform functional and non-functional testing to ensure products meet or exceed specifications and consumer expectations.

Utilize advanced testing methodologies and tools to evaluate product quality.

Review, manage, and approve supplier testing efforts.

Reliability Modeling: Develop and apply reliability techniques to reduce premature field failures under various conditions.

Conduct accelerated life testing and statistical analysis to estimate failure rates, categorize risks, and identify potential areas for improvement.

Issue Identification and Resolution: Identify and analyze quality issues or defects in products, utilizing root cause analysis techniques to determine the underlying causes.

Work with engineering and manufacturing teams to develop and implement corrective and preventive actions.

Sustaining Engineering: Monitor product quality in the marketplace and drive necessary improvement plans with Engineering and contract manufacturers.

Manages the KPI reporting and support of Skullcandy's CAPA system and escalated MRB dispositions; directs China QE's and contract manufacturers in action plans to reduce product defects.

Supplier and Contract Manufacturer Management: Collaborate with overseas contract manufacturers to ensure that their reliability test lab, production processes and quality control measures align with company standards.

Conduct supplier audits, address quality issues, and manage the integration of quality requirements into the manufacturing process Project Management: Oversee quality assurance activities across multiple overlapping projects, ensuring timely execution of quality plans and adherence to project timelines.

Coordinate resources and manage priorities to address quality concerns effectively within each project.

Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed documentation of quality testing results, reliability outcomes, issue reports, and resolution actions.

Prepare and present quality performance reports to management and other stakeholders, providing insights into the status and challenges of multiple projects.

Continuous Improvement: Promote a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance quality processes and procedures.

Implement best practices and innovative solutions to improve product quality and reliability across projects.

Compliance: Ensure that products comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and certifications.

Stay updated on industry trends and changes in quality standards.

Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.

Advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., Six Sigma, ASQ) is a plus.

Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in quality engineering, with a focus on consumer electronics.

Proven track record of managing quality processes and resolving complex quality issues, including experience working with overseas contract manufacturers and managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Technical Skills: Strong understanding of electronics design, testing methodologies, reliability modeling, and manufacturing processes.

Proficiency in using quality testing tools and equipment.

Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex issues and develop effective solutions.

Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with cross-functional teams and present findings to stakeholders.
