Position Summary
The Structural Engineering Associate (EA) I & II is an entry-level role suited for individuals with up to four years of professional experience. This position involves assignments intended to build engineering knowledge and practical skills. The role requires the application of standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to a variety of tasks. While limited judgment is required, the EA will assist in making preliminary decisions and adaptations of engineering methods.
Duties and Responsibilities
Apply principles of good engineering practice to all assignments.
Utilize computers, handbooks, and drawing instruments effectively.
Perform basic design calculations within assigned discipline.
Produce accurate, detailed, and productive work.
Assist in preliminary design studies and project planning.
Support preparation of specifications, cost estimates, reports, and studies.
Create design layouts, detailed drawings, and sketches.
Review and check designs prepared by others.
Employ CAD and other computer-based tools in design efforts.
Recognize limitations and seek guidance when necessary.
Adhere to company safety and quality policies and procedures.
Qualifications Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
EIT (Engineer-in-Training) certification preferred.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Physical Requirements
Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime and overnight travel as required.
Ability to operate a computer and remain seated for extended periods.
Capable of working outdoors and on uneven surfaces (e.g., concrete, grass, dirt, gravel).
Valid driver's license with the ability to travel as needed.
