Key Responsibilities
As a Technical Writer, the primary duties include:
Collecting and interpreting complex data from various sources
Developing, organizing, and writing inspections reports.
The technical writer’s work description also involves creating and maintaining templates.
Understanding and documenting technical information gathered from inspection sites.
Collaborating with inspection teams to gather and interpret technical information, such as weather, damage photos, and other information gathered from a site.
Reviewing and editing prepared documents and manuscripts for clarity, grammatical accuracy, and proper formatting.
Maintaining our library of technical documentation, revising existing documents, and updating documentation for enhancements and new features.
Utilizing various tools to create diagrams, charts, and other visuals to aid users' comprehension.
Ensuring technical verbiage is accessible to a non-technical audience.
Adhering to compliance with relevant document standards and regulations.
Work with other employees or departments to ensure that the team meets their target.
Ensure that documentation is compliant with relevant laws and regulations
Update obsolete documents if necessary
The ability to move between reports as data filters in.
Education and Certification Requirements
To qualify for the position of Technical Writer, candidates should meet the following educational and certification standards:
A bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, English, Journalism, or related field.
Background in inspections of buildings damaged by naturals disasters, fires and or defective construction is a plus. Certification in IBEC Registered Roof Observer or similar certifications and training in the field of construction is a plus.
Professional certifications such as the Certified Professional Technical Communicator (CPTC) or similar credentials are highly desirable.
Strong skills in word processing and documentation software, such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and MadCap Flare.
Experience with technical communication tools and content management systems.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with various technical teams and stakeholders.
Willingness to explore the use of AI tools in the report process.Company Description
