A leading name in the steel manufacturing industry is seeking a hands-on Machining Manager to lead its machining department. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for overseeing a large team, managing production schedules, and driving quality, efficiency, and safety across a multi-shift operation.

What You’ll Own:
Full oversight of daily machining operations across 3 shifts
Leadership of 6 supervisors and ~90 union machinists (~70 machines total)
Planning, scheduling, and coordinating production activities
Driving key KPIs (Cubic Inch Removal Rate, Tooling Cost/Inch, Non-Conformance, etc.)
Enforcing and elevating quality and safety standards
Leading process improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives
Managing budgets, tooling, and inventory levels
Collaborating with cross-functional departments (QC, Maintenance, Procurement)
What You Bring:
5+ years of machining or steel manufacturing experience
2+ years in a leadership or management role
In-depth knowledge of manual and CNC machining (80% manual / 20% CNC)
Experience with lathes, mills, saws, boring mills, and VTLs
Strong leadership with a collaborative, on-the-floor management style
Proficiency in CAD/CAM (SolidWorks), ERP systems, and Microsoft Office
Familiarity with lean principles and continuous improvement
High emotional intelligence—able to lead seasoned machinists with respect and confidence

Standard Hours: 6:30 AM – 2:30 PM (flexible as needed)
