Lead Formulation Scientist

Astrix is collaborating with a client in the sports nutrition manufacturing sector to identify a dynamic, hands-on R&D Manager to drive innovation in formulation and laboratory operations. This R&D Manager will coordination with other departments to support, coordinate, and develop innovative nutrition powders and supplement products.

Type: Direct Hire

Location: Middlesex County, NJ

Rate: $90K - $120K

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the development of new products and enhancement of existing formulations.

Research and source high-quality raw materials.

Expand lab capabilities to analyze raw materials.

Develop testing protocols for key characteristics.

Utilize data to refine formulations and improve manufacturing efficiency.

Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of lab equipment.

Supervise and mentor lab technicians.

Provide training in formulation techniques and quality control.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align product development with company objectives.

Manage R&D project timelines to ensure efficiency and innovation.

Ensure formulations comply with FDA, cGMP, NSF, and other regulatory requirements.

Maintain comprehensive documentation, including formulation records and stability studies.

Qualifications:

Bachelors or Master's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Nutrition/Dietetics, or related field.

3+ year experience in nutraceutical formulation and R&D.

Knowledge of product development processes, ingredient interactions, and regulatory requirements.

Hands-on experience with solid dose and powder manufacturing equipment.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel; familiarity with ERP software (e.g., Deacom) is a plus.
