Job Description
Job Purpose:
Be the subject matter expert
Design & develop advanced spring probes, stamped and formed contacts, and new contact technologies & products
Provide engineering supports in assigned areas
Responsibilities:
Search on new materials, new technologies and their applications on spring probes and stamped and formed contacts.
Develop new spring probe and contact from initial concept, design, manufacturing and customer evaluation.
Provides technical support with expertise to engineering and other groups.
Conduct training for other design and development engineers.
Prepare engineering documents, such as design guidelines.
Participate in key issues task force to provide technical supports as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Compliance and participation in all Smiths Connectors EHS programs, policies, procedures and training requirements.
Perform preliminary analysis and simulations as initial verification on new concepts.
Patent applications for IP protection
Up to 20% travel may be required
Qualifications
Technical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
This position requires individual to be US Citizen or Permanant Resident, no acceptations!
Bachelor's degree or above in Engineering, major in Mechanicals or Electric preferred, with over 15 years experiences in spring probe & other contact technologies or related industries
Must have experience in the design and development of stamped and formed contacts.
Knowledge of engineering mechanics, physics and manufacturing methods, including GD&T, ANSI/ASME standards
Proficient with Microsoft Office, SolidWorks, and equivalent design software
Ability to understand and conduct engineering analysis and simulations, such as thermal, structural FEA, and signal integrity simulations
Ability to follow and provide detailed written or verbal instructions and communicate effectively
Strong interpersonal skills, balances team and individual responsibilities
Strong knowledge on semiconductor or related industries, contact technologies.
Ability to make sound decision and accurate judgments
Experience with Six Sigma or equivalent tools and Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) preferred
Experience on Finite Element Analysis (structural, thermal & fluid) strongly preferred
Ability to report to management with technical advice and make sound decisions and accurate judgments
Strong self-learning capabilities
