JOB SUMMARY: Design production tooling using 3D modeling software to aid in the assembly of aircraft interior parts that meet design intent in regards to drawing tolerances and specifications.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
1. Developing new tooling methods and fixtures
2. Design innovative tolling standards to reduce production costs
3. Researching new suppliers and tolling concepts to improve designs and reduce cost
4. Project scheduling to test new tools and processes
5. Schedule design reviews with Manufacturing Engineers
6. Able to crate drawing and specifications from tooling designs
7. works with design engineering team to improve part design for manufacturability (DFMA, Key Characteristics, Tooling Hole Requirements)
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Will be accountable to the Engineering Manager but may be assigned to report to business unit leads as necessary.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
1. 5+ years of experience in tooling design and development
2. Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing understanding a plus
3. Experience as a machinist is preferred
4. Experience with composite materials is a plus
5. Aerospace Industry-specific background is a plus
6. Creative and progressive thinking skills
7. Good Communication skills
8. Ability to exchange tolling ideas with Operations Managers and manufacturing Engineers
9. Well-developed 3D Modeling skills (Solidworks, Catia)
10. In-depth knowledge of large-scale production and manufacturing
11. Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Normal office environment where approximately 80% of work is performed in a sitting position with the remaining time walking and moving around the office area.
Filing duties require typical bending, stooping, reaching, stretching, etc. Handles typical office supplies weighing less than 5 lbs.
Normal mental and visual attention along with manual coordination for keyboard operations is necessary approximately 25% of the time.
Normal or corrected hearing and vision are required
