POSITION SUMMARY:

The AVP, Senior Claims Analyst is responsible for, but not limited to analysing, and processing claims under the applicable (re)insurance contracts, performing claims audits, providing analysis to underwriters and reserving actuaries, and participate in and lead collaborative projects in support of other areas of the company, including finance, actuarial, operations and technology. This role will lead/support with the preparation of management reporting on respective claims activities. In addition, the AVP, Senior Claims Analyst supports the Underwriters on any claims related interactions with cedents and brokers.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Primarily responsible for the handling of Professional Liability including Medical Malpractice claims, with a focus on moderate to highly complex matters but also assist as needed handling other casualty and property claims arising out of the U.S reinsurance operations.

Investigate, handle and seek to resolve all claims in accordance with company standards and procedures.

Build and maintain relationships with key brokers and internal and external stakeholders.

Ensure claims systems are kept up to date in a timely manner.

Promote compliance with best practice for all aspects of claims management.

Support with developing (re)insurance knowledge within team.

Actively participate in renewal meetings with Underwriters as required.

Provide feedback to Underwriters from a Claims perspective.

Participate in client visits and audits as required.

Represent the company at market meetings and on market committees and attend company sponsored training events.

Ensures all handled claims are properly processed and reserved. Ensures alignment and compliance with Global reserving practices and strategy.

Lead claims audits.

Support with evaluating, training, advising, and mentoring the claims staff and providing technical expertise to the claims and underwriting process that will enable underwriters and actuaries to better assess and rate their contracts and submissions. Strategic Projects

Seeks outs and explores new opportunities for process improvement and enhancement at the local level and propose solutions to improve the efficiency of the functional area. EXPECTED COMPETENCIES:

A university degree preferred, or comparable relevant experience.

A professional qualification preferrable (CPCU, AIC, or similar).

At least 7 to 10 years prior Professional Lines reinsurance/insurance claims handling experience.

Fully proficient, has in-depth knowledge, works independently on moderate to highly complex insurance/reinsurance coverage matters.

Familiarity with and ability to conduct client claim audits independently including all pre and post audit activities, feedback and reports.

Utilises solid technical competence to achieve exemplary results and to manage and resolve issues.

Seeks out and explores new assignments, exposure or challenges to enhance technical skills.

Meets industry standards routinely and offers improvement suggestions.

Proactively identifies resources, actions and timelines needed to achieve objectives.

Delegates responsibilities where appropriate and follows up to ensure results are delivered.

Proficient with Excel and spreadsheets specifically with the use of pivot tables, etc.

Knowledge of US GAAP, other relevant GAAP or regulatory reporting requirements as applicable.

Experience with public companies and SOX 404 is advantageous

Proficiency in the use of computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite, etc.)

Additional requirements:

Candidates are required to have detailed knowledge and experience of claims handling processes and practices, in addition to having a detailed understanding of the legal landscape relevant to their jurisdiction.

In addition, candidates are required to have detailed knowledge and understanding both of technical claims matters and legal aspects for those jurisdictions where it anticipated claims will arise (US/Continental Europe/UK/Asia Pacific - dependent upon role location).

The fulltime base salary range for this position is $140,000 - $165,000 USD per year; base salary offered may vary based on job-related knowledge skills, and experience. The position is eligible for bonus and a comprehensive benefits package. This information is provided per the New York City Human Rights Law and applies to positions in New York City.
