Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Manual Precision Grinder to join our team on first shift. This position is responsible for grinding close-tolerance parts using manual ID, OD, and surface grinding equipment. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of grinding techniques, precision inspection, and takes pride in high-quality workmanship.

Key Responsibilities

Set up and operate manual grinding machines for internal, external, and surface grinding operations

Grind parts to precise dimensions per engineering prints, often holding tolerances within .0001"

Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and specifications

Use precision measurement tools, including micrometers, bore gauges, and indicators, to inspect parts during and after grinding

Select appropriate wheels, speeds, and feeds to ensure proper finish and geometry

Keep a clean and organized work area and follow all safety protocols

Communicate with team members, supervisors, and quality personnel to resolve issues and improve processes

Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of hands-on manual grinding experience (ID, OD, and surface grinding required)

Strong ability to read blueprints and use standard and precision measuring equipment

Demonstrated experience holding tight tolerances and producing consistent, repeatable results

Good mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills

Dependable and able to work independently with minimal supervision

Experience in a job shop or high-mix environment is preferred
