Job Duties and Responsibilities
Purchasing steel requirements and managing demand;
Managing all outside processing requirements;
Develop a mutual working relationship with the steel mills and with any other vendors which supply and process steel for the plant needs;
Develop an effective information sharing system with all plants;
Work closely with the Business Manager on steel market activities and capitalize any opportunities in steel buying with multiple plant locations;
Assist the Sales Department in any steel purchasing related matters such as new orders, quotes or any special buys in accordance to project specification;
Ensure the steel deliveries are in conjunction with the delivery requirement of the project;
Work closely with the scheduling department on any movement of projects for the plant.
Required
Proven steel purchasing experience or equivalent supply chain experience;
Experience with high levels of responsibility and decision making in pressure situations;
Possess a self-starter quality for seeking input and details from resources;
Able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events;
Must be proficient in Excel;
