The City of Topeka is seeking a service-minded individual to serve as a Probation Officer in the Municipal Court. This position is responsible for supervising and assisting clients who have been convicted of a misdemeanor offense and performs other duties as assigned.
What you'll do:
Provide case supervision for adults in office or via telephone and enforce court-ordered conditions.
Observe drug and alcohol test screenings.
Gather, verify and document information after each interaction with clients. Submits affidavits or verified statements to the court as needed.
Assist clients in seeking services such as vocational training, employment, substance usage treatment, mental health services and any other community resources to help with basic needs.
Participate in organizational meetings, court hearings and training as required. The ideal candidate:
Has the ability to remain calm and maintain a professional demeanor in difficult situations.
Is skilled at documenting, researching and utilizing resources.
Is highly organized with the ability to exercise sound judgement. Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in corrections, criminology, psychology, social work or closely related field is required.

Entry Rate of Pay: $20.42 - $21.39 per hour, depending on qualifications
