Instructional Aid Specialist-Capstone and Outreach Support

The School of Environment and Natural Resources (SENR) seeks an Instructional Aid Specialist to support the instructional, administrative, and partnership needs of the undergraduate Capstone courses (ENR 4900.01 and 4567), with additional responsibilities supporting alumni and community engagement. This role provides consistent, high-level coordination and instructional support across multiple sections of the capstone experience and assists in connecting students, instructors, and community partners through high-impact, real-world projects.
The SENR and EEDS Capstone courses engage more than 20 project partners per year, resulting in public-facing student deliverables archived in the OSU Knowledge Bank (100+ reports available to date). Both courses recently received recognition through the Ohio State Office of Outreach and Engagement as Programs of Excellence in Engaged Scholarship. The Instructional Aid Specialist will also coordinate with SENR’s outreach staff, careers team, and alumni society to strengthen long-term community and alumni relationships.
Minimum Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Environment and Natural Resources, Public Administration, Communications, or related field or equivalent relevant experience. Experience involving project coordination, instructional support, editing, or community engagement. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities with professionalism and attention to detail.
Minimum Desired Qualifications
Master’s degree in Environment and Natural Resources or a related field. 1–2 years of experience in instructional support, program coordination, or partnership development (may include
graduate assistantships or equivalent). Familiarity with OSU systems (e.g., CarmenCanvas, Office 365, Knowledge Bank submission tools). Comfort with editing documents for publication and supporting professional formatting standards.
