Optivolt is seeking a Senior Quality & Reliability Engineer to lead the development of our quality systems and infrastructure. This role will be instrumental in ensuring robust, consistent manufacturing outcomes across our contract manufacturing (CM) partners and validating product performance with third-party labs.
You will play a hands-on role — not only defining quality and reliability standards but also designing custom test equipment tailored to Optivolt’s unique hardware. Your work will directly support production scale-up and field reliability, ensuring our systems perform in demanding real-world environments.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement quality assurance processes for electrical assemblies at CM partner sites
Define in-process and end-of-line test procedures; drive process audits and corrective actions with CMs
Design, prototype, and deploy custom test fixtures and automation for reliability and production validation
Collaborate with third-party labs to validate safety, performance, and environmental compliance
Conduct hands-on reliability testing (thermal cycling, mechanical shock, power cycling, etc.)
Lead failure analysis investigations (FA, RCA, 8D, FMEA) for field returns and production defects
Maintain quality documentation, traceability, and validation reports for internal and external stakeholders
Influence product design with recommendations for design-for-testability and reliability
Partner cross-functionally to scale testing, inspection, and validation infrastructure as production ramps
Qualifications
5+ years in hardware quality, reliability, or test engineering
Strong hands-on background in electronics and test system development (fixtures, automation, instrumentation)
Proven ability to set up and improve quality systems at contract manufacturing sites
Familiarity with electronics assembly standards (IPC-A-610, ISO 9001) and compliance standards (UL, IEC, etc.)
Experience managing third-party validation partners and coordinating test certification workflows
Skilled in root cause analysis methods (5 Whys, Ishikawa, etc.) and quality metrics (DOE, AQL, CPK, yield, etc.)
Able to travel periodically to CM or lab sites for hands-on setup, validation, and troubleshooting
Comfortable working across engineering, test, and manufacturing teams in a fast-paced environment
Knowledge of Python, LabVIEW or similar for automating test equipment
Preferred Skills
Experience in manufacturing complex electronic products at high volume, e.g. mobile phones, automotive, solar, power electronics, or other rugged outdoor electronic systems
Experience building systems during NPI-to-production transitions
Knowledge of photovoltaic systems, photovoltaic optimizers, string inverters, etc.
