Summary:
South Valley Almond Company is seeking a highly effective Processing Manager direct and organize the daily operations of the almond processing facilities which includes overseeing employees and production to ensure the plant is running safely, smoothly, effectively, and efficiently.
Responsibilities:
Manage overall risk and food safety of facility, as well as ensure a safe workplace environment for all employees and visitors.
Oversee the safe operation and maintenance of all processing equipment.
Meet goals of hulling, shelling, processing, storage, and shipping in quality and throughput.
Direct processing projects and initiatives with production and marketing departments.
Partner with leadership at processing locations to unify the division and learn from each other.
Improve the operational efficiency of the facility to produce products that meet customer specifications.
Coordinate with quality control to meet all customer, internal, and audit requirements.
Hire, train, develop, and evaluate staff.
Create operating and capital budgets and monitor/manage all activities within approved limits
Maintain the yearly OSHA frequency rate below industry average
Ensure facility is staffed and audit-ready at all times for unannounced state, federal, local auditing agency visits, GFSI and customer tours.
Qualifications:
3+ years of supervisory/management experience with good knowledge in the areas of processing, warehousing, quality assurance, inventory management, people management and chemical application.
Almond processing knowledge desired.
Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Agribusiness, or other relevant field. Significant related experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
Currently have or be able obtain a BRC certification.
Must obtain and retain a CA Qualified Applicator Certificate.
Experience generating/analyzing reports, making data-driven decisions, and multitasking several high priority tasks.
Strong demonstrated professional communication, interpersonal and leadership skills. Bilingual Spanish English a plus.
Computer proficiency in Microsoft tools and ability to learn warehouse/inventory software.
Ability to work long hours, weekends, holidays, and/or off shifts.
Ability to meet the physical requirements of the role.
