Job Title: Part-Time Controller

Location: Remote and on-site in Dayton, Ohio

Hours: 15–25 hours per week (flexible)

Compensation: Competitive, based on experience

About the Role:

Roots Staffing is recruiting on behalf of our client, a growing tech services company with approximately $7M in annual revenue. We are seeking a seasoned Part-Time Controller to provide financial leadership, ensure accurate reporting, and support strategic decision-making as the company continues to scale.

Responsibilities:

· Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, and financial reporting

· Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements and dashboards for leadership review

· Manage cash flow forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis

· Work with external CPA on tax filings and year-end reporting

· Support financial modeling for strategic initiatives and pricing strategies

· Maintain internal controls and ensure GAAP compliance

· Evaluate financial systems and make recommendations for improvements

Requirements

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)

· 7+ years of experience in accounting/controller roles, ideally within tech or professional services

· Strong understanding of GAAP, cash flow, and financial operations in small to mid-sized businesses

· Proficiency in QuickBooks Online (or similar), and Excel/Google Sheets

· Detail-oriented with strong analytical and communication skills

· Comfortable working independently in a remote or hybrid environment
