The City of Branson is seeking a forward-thinking Assistant Planning Director who will play a key role in driving the city's long-term growth, revitalization, and sustainability.

What You'll Do:As the Assistant Planning Director, you'll be a strategic leader at the forefront of community development. You'll guide planning staff, advance economic initiatives, and coordinate efforts that support smart, sustainable growth. You will:
Providedailyoversight of the Planning and Development Department, ensuring professional and efficient service delivery and staff development.
Overseethe preparation and review of long-range planning studies, neighborhood action plans, comprehensive plan updates, urban design plans, and redevelopment efforts.
Manageand supervisethe processing and analysis of zoning, subdivision, and other development applications.
Prepareand managespecial planning projects including land use studies, ordinance updates, transportation planning, and housing initiatives.
Research emerging planning, zoning, land use, and housing policies; recommends and drafts code updates and ordinance amendments.
Overseepreparation of graphic and public presentations on public improvements.
Directly supervisethe work of City Planners and other planning staff.
Research and recommend updates to city code, zoning ordinances, and development regulations based on trends, best practices, and public input.
Prepare and deliver professional presentations of staff reports, code changes and other recommendations to city boards, stakeholders, and the public, supporting transparency and community engagement.

Requirements:
Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in economic development, planning and management, preferably in a municipal government environment.
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in Urban Planning or closely related field is required.
Prior work experience in Urban Planning or closely related field may be substituted for the degree requirement as determined by the Department Director.
At least two (2) years in a supervisory capacity is required.
An advanced degree in Planning is preferred.
Code Official Certification and AICP is preferred.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: The starting range for this role is $73,164Annually and after successful six month probation could move to $76,091Annually.

MISCELLANEOUS REQUIREMENTS
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must be highly engaged in the department's goals and be able to work cooperatively with City of Branson leadership in achieving those goals.
Must demonstrate excellent customer service to the department's internal or external customers.
Must possess a high degree of integrity, strong work ethic and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Must possess strong analytical and logical problem-solving skills, strong interpersonal communication and relational skills, good organizational, project management skills, sound judgment, initiative, flexibility, and be detail oriented.
Must possess a valid driver's license and must be insurable under the City of Branson's motor vehicle coverage when operating a vehicle as a part of the position.
Must be able to pass a background investigation and drug and alcohol screenings.

WORK LOCATION: City of Branson, Missouri; City Hall.This is an in-office position requiring work to be performed onsite.
