POSITION OVERVIEW: The Northwest School is seeking a part-time HR Clerk (Leave Replacement) to provide administrative support to the Human Resources department from August through December 2025. This temporary position is intended to overlap with the incumbent for a smooth transition, supporting HR operations with a focus on employee data, onboarding, and light payroll or HRIS tasks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Maintain and update employee records in digital and physical formats
Support onboarding and offboarding tasks, including background checks, I-9s, and document collection
Assist with payroll preparation.
Enter and update employee data in the HRIS system (Paycom experience a plus) with accuracy and confidentiality.
Respond to basic staff questions related to benefits, policies, and time off
Help with filing, compliance tracking, and general administrative duties
Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, both digital and physical.
Provide general administrative support to the HR Director as needed.
Support the employee recruiting process by providing administrative support to search committees and the Director of HR, including scheduling meetings, candidate communication, interview schedules, and creating and distributing tools.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform other duties as assigned by the direct Supervisor or the Head of School.
Maintain regular and reliable attendance as a core and essential function of the position.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
All candidates must demonstrate a commitment to the school’s mission, values, and philosophy, especially related to diversity, equity, and inclusion, environmental sustainability, and global perspective.
High school diploma or equivalent required
1–2 years of HR or administrative experience required
Familiarity with payroll
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to handle confidential information
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Outlook)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field preferred.
Familiarity with HRIS systems preferred
Experience in a school or non-profit setting a plus
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to lift to 25 pounds in connection with job duties such as assisting with classroom setup or moving materials.
Ability to stand, sit, and move comfortably throughout classrooms and school hallways for extended periods.
Ability to climb stairs, navigate uneven surfaces, and escort students as needed between locations within and outside school buildings.
Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including inclement weather.
Evening and weekend work may be required at times
COMPENSATION:
The salary range is $23.00 - $25.00 per hour, based on education and years of experience. This is a .50 FTE position not eligible for benefit.
