THIS POSITION IS CLASSIFIED AS A HUMAN CAPITAL MANAGEMENT SENIOR ANALYST
Serves as Human Resources Coordinator for Ohio Department of Public Safety (ODPS) by coordinating advanced HR subprograms (i.e., Bureau of Worker's Compensation (BWC)):
Independently make complex determinations &/or recommendations based on thorough analysis of facts regarding BWC claims;
Provide high-level research, tracking, investigation & information/ documentation gathering of workplace injuries, accidents & incidents;
Review, analyze & process complex BWC claims, to include salary continuation, occupational injury leave, & temporary total compensation;
Collaborate with claims adjustors, medical providers, & third- party administrators;
Develop & implement strategies to reduce BWC costs & improve safety programs;
Monitor & track claim trends, patterns & outcomes to identify areas for improvement & risk mitigation;
Maintain thorough knowledge of claim settlement & provide recommendations for claim resolution to HR Benefits Manager;
Develop strategic initiative to manage absenteeism, disability separations & reinstatements to return employees to work timely & in compliance with applicable regulations;
Create & implement BWC leave tracking & monitoring system;
Provide work injury educational training for management & employees;
Formulate process for agency-wide year-end Public Employment Risk Reduction Program (PERP) reports to assure accuracy & compliance with BCW rules & regulations;
Provide high-level research of BWC regulation changes & policy updates to assure agency compliance;
Maintain work injury files to guarantee confidentiality while adhering to agency retention requirements.
Performs related administrative duties:
Operate personal computer to type, log, enter, access &/or generate correspondence &/or various reports;
Answer telephone & respond to inquiries from department personnel, employees & general public;
Represent Benefits Unit at meetings &/or trainings;
Review & recommend changes to forms for compliance with rules & regulations;
Serve on committees as requested;
Assist high-level HCM staff or other administrative staff on special projects, reports;
Perform other duties as assigned.
