Helena School District has an opening for an Assistant Principal at Helena High School for the 25-26 School Year

The Assistant Principal’s position is a fundamental component of the District’s leadership team. In this role, you will be a leader in student education, community engagement and creating time, energy and resources to ensure students are afforded the opportunity to learn in a supportive, competitive and engaging environment.
Some of what you will do:
Provide support to the building principal in the development and administration of the comprehensive improvement plan.
Provide support to the building principal in the development of the master schedule. Works closely with students, parents, and counselors in the development of class schedules.
Establish an effective rapport with students. Supervise students during instructional and extra-curricular activities.
Communicate effectively and maintain relations with parents, parent groups, school volunteers, and community agencies.
Management and supervision of all building personnel. Provide support to teachers and staff and resolve staff issues through conflict resolution.
Evaluate performance of teachers, programs and staff; plan and facilitate professional development for faculty as needed.
Communicate effectively with all members of the school community.
Attend IEP and 504 meetings and work closely with Case Managers to ensure teachers are following all applicable laws and requirements.
Lead a school-wide committee or two to help with the establishment/growth of school climate and culture.
Who we are looking for:
A student-first, team oriented, collaborative and experienced educational leader with a strong background in both academic and social-emotional learning.
To become part of this dedicated team, you need:
A master's or advanced degree from an accredited college or university.
Valid teaching certificate, with the appropriate administrative endorsement.
At least five years of successful teaching experience; three years experience as an administrator is preferred.
Educational leadership experience is preferred (i.e., hiring, mentoring, directing work, employee relations, application of employment law and collective bargaining agreements).
Professional competencies include:
Initiative and adaptability to independently prioritize action to best address the needs of the District with professionalism and mindfulness.
Communication and integrity to work effectively under pressure with different people and teams, promoting consensus, while being respectful of other’s interests and the District’s interests.
Influence and personal effectiveness to instill trust and demonstrate integrity through daily interactions and act responsibly in difficult situations.
Service and organizational commitment to provide prompt, efficient service that meets the expectations of the clients and holds to the highest value the District’s approach and service.
Mathematical skills and reasoning ability to calculate figures, analyze data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
English and writing skills to effectively communicate through various written mediums (e.g. emails, newsletters, etc.) with students, staff, families, and the community.
Work effectively with computer and software programs to perform the duties of the position; learn and utilize District applications.
Successful candidates enjoy being mobile throughout the day to regularly interact with diverse groups and are able to balance multiple demands at the same time.

Annual salary starts at $106,823.68 per year, depending on experience and a comprehensive benefit package. Note: Salary amounts for the 2025-2026 school year have not been determined. Salaries will be adjusted accordingly.
