Finance Specialist
Reports To: VP of Finance
Location: Billings, MT

Position Summary:
New Day, Inc. is seeking a highly detail-oriented and motivated Financial Specialist to support our Finance Department under the direction of the VP of Finance. This position plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, performing grant accounting, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain and prepare accurate accounting documents, reports, and records.
Prepare deposits and general ledger postings.
Perform timely account reconciliations, including balance sheet and grant accounts.
Conduct grant accounting across all phases of the project lifecycle:
Manage financial and grant services
Act as point of contact for auditors
Prepare journal entries, reports for funders, and assist with audits
Assist in preparation of annual budgets and financial projections.
Ensure accuracy and compliance of financial statements with GAAP.
Experience with payroll processing, tax filing, and employee benefit calculations (401K, healthcare).
Maintain relationships with key financial and grant-related stakeholders.
Supervise and manage the organization’s day-to-day financial activities.
Provide additional support and duties as assigned by the VP of Finance.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
Minimum 5 years of professional accounting/finance experience.
High Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Microsoft Excel and other spreadsheet tools.
Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in grant accounting and nonprofit financial management.
Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and financial statement preparation.
Additional Requirements:
Valid Montana driver’s license and insurable driving record.
Current certification in CPR, First Aid, and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention which New Day, Inc. provides.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and complete an I-9 form.
