Description:

The Pipe Fabricator is responsible for the layout, fabrication, preparation, and installation of pipe systems aboard ships under construction. This role requires a strong understanding of pipefitting, blueprint reading, and a variety of welding, cutting, and bending tools to assemble metal piping according to project specifications.

A Pipe Fabricator's key responsibilities include:

Read and interpret piping diagrams, blueprints, schematics, and isometric drawings.

Fabricate piping systems from raw material, including measuring, cutting, threading, bending, and welding pipe sections using appropriate tools and equipment.

Fit and tack pipe components using tack welding, clamping, and fixtures.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Comply with all safety, environmental, and quality procedures and regulations.Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent; technical school or trade certification in pipefitting or welding preferred.

5+ years of pipe fabrication experience in a marine (preferable), industrial, or construction environment.

Proficient in the use of pipe threading machines, torches, pipe benders, grinders, and other fabrication tools.

Ability to read and interpret ship piping drawings and schematics.

Familiarity with a variety of piping materials, including copper-nickel, stainless steel, carbon steel, and PVC.

Knowledge of welding techniques and pipe jointing methods (TIG, MIG, stick, or brazing).

Basic math and measuring skills.

Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, or in inclement weather conditions when required

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

Ability to stand, bend, squat, kneel, and climb ladders for extended periods.

Must wear the required PPE, including hard hat, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed boots.

Tolerance for working in hot, cold, and noisy environments typical of shipyard conditions.

Work Schedule:

Full-time; Monday-Thursday 6:00-4:30 p.m. and Fridays 6:00-12:00 p.m.

May include overtime, evenings, weekends, or shift work depending on production needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in a pipe fabrication shop.

Experience in rigging and overhead crane use.

Experience in hydrostatic and pneumatic bench testing pipe spools.
