The Corporate Controller will be responsible for the accounting operations of the company, including financial reporting and analysis, budget leadership, financial controls, insurance, payroll, and data management. The Controller will manage a team of Revenue, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, and Cash Application specialists. In addition, the position will contribute towards an audit-compliant system of internal controls and processes that will ensure that company assets are adequately safeguarded and that all financial reporting is prepared on a timely basis, in compliance with US GAAP.

Key Responsibilities

Essential Job Duties:

Financial Reporting & Analysis: Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports that detail the financial performance including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, cash flow analysis, and detailed variance reports.

Budget Leadership: Lead the development of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts; Oversee the production of periodic financial reports; ensure that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.

Variance Reporting & Corrective Actions: Monitor budget vs. actual performance, prepare variance analysis, and recommend corrective actions to stay on target financially.

Vendor Coordination & Compliance: Collaborate with Site Leadership and vendors to optimize inventory levels, reduce excess, and align with customer demand.

Financial Controls: Establish and maintain a documented system of financial controls and accounting policies and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure data integrity; continuously improve the existing system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.

Policy Compliance: Enforce compliance with Company financial policies, industry accounting standards, and relevant regulatory requirements. Ensure data accuracy and process consistency across all systems and team members, including but not limited to compliance with GAAP.

Risk Identification & Management: Identify and manage financial risks associated with vendor partnerships, assessing financial exposure and ensuring compliance across all sites.

Strategic Financial Guidance: Provide strategic recommendations on improvements for cost savings, enhanced efficiency, and process improvements that align with Company business goals and drive profitability. Lead initiatives to enhance data collection and reporting, implementing automation and data integration with vendor systems as needed.

People Management: Manage and oversee the performance of a team using clear goals, KPIs and best practice implementation. Perform all people management activities including interviewing and selection, performance appraisals & goal setting, timecard, PTO, and payroll needs, employee counseling, new hire onboarding and training, career coaching, and employee meetings. Managing assigned staff, proactively identify and resolve issues, and work to ensure successful site operations.

Maintain a positive, results oriented work environment, building partnerships within the team and across the organization at large, modeling teamwork. Maintain a customer service mindset when engaging or responding to questions from Site employees.

Establish strong relationships with our Private Equity sponsor and other key stakeholders. Perform ad hoc analyses as requested and provide information promptly.

Set clear short-term and long-term team priorities in cooperation with senior management and actively track and report progress against these initiatives on a regular basis.

Partner with operations and budgets/contracts colleagues to implement best practices in a scalable manner. Partner with finance and operations leads to establish and report on revenue-based performance metrics. Collaborate with internal departments to implement continuous improvement initiatives aimed at cost control and operational efficiency.

Work with external auditors and provide needed information for the annual audit and annual tax returns.

Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.

Lead process and system integration workflows for newly acquired companies/sites.

Support month-end close, bank and management reporting while maintaining established timelines.

Active participation in special projects, including but not limited to process standardization, system migrations, and integration of newly acquired sites’ processes and systems, as needed.

Perform all other duties that may be requested or assigned.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred AND 8+ years of related accounting experience AND 5+ years of management experience, OR and equivalent combination of education and experience is required. CPA required. Must have demonstrated experience with general ledger accounting, cost accounting, and financial analysis. Must have proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., Sage Intacct, QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) and advanced Excel skills. Experience working in a clinical research site or CRO environment is preferred.

Required Skills:

Proficiency with computer applications such as Microsoft applications, email, electronic health records, and web applications and the ability to type proficiently (40+ wpm).

Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., Sage Intacct, QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) and advanced Excel skills.

Strong team leadership skills and ability to develop and mentor direct reports.

Strong organizational skills, time management, attention to detail, and math proficiency.

Well-developed written and verbal communication skills .

Well-developed interpersonal and listening skills and the ability to work independently as well as with co-workers, subjects, managers, and external customers.

Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and adapt to changes in workloads and priorities.

Ability to be professional, respectful of others, self-motivated, and exemplify a strong work ethic.

Full-time employees regularly scheduled to work at least 30 hours per week are benefits-eligible, with coverage starting on the first day of the month following date of hire.
