Duration: 6 month contract to hire

Location: hybrid 3x/week in Coraopolis 15108

Shift: M-F 9am-5pm

Pay Rate: $45-60/hr

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Day to Day –

Insight Global is looking for a Technical Drafter to support engineering teams by producing high-quality technical drawings and documentation related to melt shop systems, including the design, modifications, and integration of electrical equipment for arc furnaces. This candidate will play a critical role in ensuring that design packages meet contractual, safety, and technical requirements, while adhering to budget and schedule constraints. The ideal candidate will also take on the responsibility of doing additional research surrounding plates, welding, manufacturing, etc.

Must Haves:

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Design, or equivalent experience.

Experience in Steel Mill Industry or similar

Experience with electrical design for EAF systems or similar high-power industrial equipment.

Proficient in AutoCAD (2D and/or 3D)

Willing to expand on knowledge aside from drafting – engineering or commercial side of business

Plusses:

Familiarity with engineering workflows and project lifecycle phases.

Exposure to P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and electrical equipment arrangement drawings.

Experience working with ERP systems like SAP for materials and drawing integration

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and update detailed 2D/3D technical drawings, schematics, and layouts for melt shop equipment, with a focus on electrical systems for EAF.

Interpret technical specifications, process diagrams, and equipment datasheets.

Interface with electrical, mechanical, and process engineers to develop integrated design packages.

Support the generation of bill of materials (BOMs), cable routing plans, and assembly drawings.

Review and ensure the accuracy of drawings prior to release for fabrication or construction.

Contribute to design reviews and assist with resolving technical issues during project execution.

Provide support during installation and commissioning phases when required.

Assist in the preparation of technical documentation for client submittals and internal records.

Ensure compliance with industry standards, client specifications, and internal quality procedures.
