Job Title: Quality Control Inspector 1

Duration: 18 Months

Location: Fontana, CA 92337 (100% Onsite)

Pay Rate: $20.00 – $23.71/hr.

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 20–30 hours per week

Seeking a Quality Control Inspector to conduct visual inspections of distribution transformer units in Fontana, CA. These transformers are shipped from Howard Industries’ facility in Laurel, Mississippi and maintained under a vendor-managed inventory (VMI) agreement.

Responsibilities:

Perform detailed visual inspections of incoming distribution transformers, including:

Overhead (Pole Top)

Single-Phase Padmount

3-Phase Padmount (500 kVA and below)

3-Phase Power Padmount (750 kVA and above)

BURD/Subway (submersible) units

Identify and document cosmetic or physical defects in a tracking log.

Follow design-specific inspection criteria provided in job aids.

Ensure accuracy of warranty stickers based on manufacturing date and transformer type.

Common Inspection Points:

Air compartment integrity

Damaged or missing subcomponents

Scratches, scrapes, dents, or missing paint on the tank

Door latching issues

Incorrect or missing nameplates, stickers, or labels

Mislabeling of components (e.g., coil/loop switch)

Internal fault detector issues (for Overhead units)

Oil leaks (from gaskets, welds, or components)

Pressure relief valve (PRV) damage or defects

Verify warranty period:

18 months for OH, single-phase pads, BURDs, and 3-phase 500 kVA

3 years for 3-phase 750 kVA
