Overview

The Lab Technician’s responsibility is to perform all quality assurance testing necessary to monitor and control the manufacturing process. The Lab Technician must have the confidence and ability to work with minimal supervision and works under direct supervision of the Quality Assurance Lead. These duties must be performed in a safe, efficient manner consistent with company goals and objectives.

Responsibilities

Performs quality assurance tests accurately and exactly by written procedures designed and set up by the Associate Director of QA & Food Safety.

Records test results accurately and neatly. Enters information into the computer accurately

Completes equipment calibrations in prescribed manner. Operates and cleans testing equipment and the lab

Supports and monitors audit programs with the ability to make corrective actions.

Monitors and audits key process controls

Evaluates incoming raw ingredients. Acquires retained samples if necessary

Demonstrates good inter-personal skills and works well with fellow employees, departments, and supervisors. Expectations are for employees to be conscientious and treat others with openness, integrity and respect including a dedication to high quality standards for job and company

Expectations are to look for ways to improve operating efficiencies and identify any food safety and/or quality issues/suggestions for the improvement of process/production

Understands and follows safety requirements, procedures, and policies. Employee understands and properly uses safety equipment

Follow company rules and employee guidelines, as established by Decas Cranberry Products Company

Participates in training sessions with a willingness to learn and improve abilities

Performs other job-related duties as assigned by members of management

Competencies

Quality assurance and food manufacturing experience preferred

Must have working knowledge of quality assurance operations and procedures

Oral and written communication skills including computer and data entry skills

Working understanding of sanitation and good manufacturing practices

Must have a thorough knowledge of non-conforming products and the on-hold procedure

Required/Preferred education and experience

HS Diploma or GED required.
