Job Description
Aquinas Consulting is currently looking to fill a Software Engineer job with a client in the optical communications industry. In this role, you will support the development and management of software simulation tools used for designing high-capacity undersea fiber-optic networks. You will collaborate with engineering teams across departments and contribute to both exploratory technology work and real-world system design implementations.
Software Engineer Job Responsibilities:
· Create new software tools and enhance existing simulation software for optical network design
· Troubleshoot and support numerical code used in fiber-optic simulation modeling
· Update GUI features based on internal user feedback
· Manage the software development lifecycle, including documentation, testing, and release notes
· Administer a Linux server hosting the codebase and manage updates via GitLab
· Collaborate with developers across the company to integrate with databases and other software systems
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
· Three to seven years of software development experience preferred
· Strong working knowledge of C++, C#, Python, and GitLab
· Experience with Linux system administration
· Familiarity with numerical methods and an understanding of telecommunications fundamentals
