Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Machine Assembler for our South Bend, IN location. The role involves working on ladders and being exposed to heights. The candidate will be responsible for fastening joints and seams in sheet metal using fasteners and drivers, ensuring that the work meets quality specifications and safety guidelines. Experience in a team environment is beneficial, and construction experience is highly applicable.
Responsibilities
Screw sheet metal panels together.
Install insulation.
Use power tools such as drills, grinders, and plasma cutting equipment.
Lay out, measure, and mark dimensions and reference lines on material.
Utilize calculator and tape measure.
Fasten seams and joints together with bolts, rivets, caulks, and metal drive clips to assemble components into product.
Drill holes in metal for screws, bolts, and rivets.
Assemble and fit pre-fabricated parts to form subassemblies.
Maintain cleanliness of work area.Essential Skills
Assembly and sheet metal experience.
Proficiency with hand tools and power tools.
Mechanical assembly skills.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
Experience with tape measure, blueprint reading, installation assembly, fabrication, construction, and sheet metal fabrication.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Previous mechanical assembly experience in building large equipment.
Construction experience, including carpentry, drywall, and metal roofing.
Ability to use power tools like drills, grinders, plasma cutting equipment, impacts, and saws.
Proficiency in reading tape measures to 1/16th.
Ownership of steel-toed boots.
Possession of a basic set of hand tools such as wrenches and socket wrenches or the ability to acquire them within two weeks of starting.
Ability to lift 40 pounds.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints is preferred.Work Environment
The work environment is a fabrication shop setting, characterized by a darker, dirty, and loud atmosphere. The role involves manufacturing large control panels that sit on top of commercial buildings. The working hours are from 5:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday to Thursday, with OT on Fridays and Saturdays.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of South Bend, Indiana.Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
