Job Title: Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Job Description
As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will safely and efficiently assist with the installation, maintenance, calibration, and repair of equipment, including valves, gauges, meters, tanks, pumps, and automation systems/PLCs. You will be responsible for inspecting, testing, and diagnosing faulty operations and parts in heavy equipment, performing regular equipment safety and maintenance inspections, and diagnosing and repairing malfunctions in diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and other components of heavy machinery. Additionally, you will disassemble and reassemble heavy equipment and components, conduct routine maintenance checks on vehicles and equipment, interpret technical manuals, diagnostic charts, and schematics to repair equipment, order necessary parts for equipment repair and maintenance, communicate with equipment operators to understand equipment problems and plan necessary repairs, test repaired equipment to ensure proper operational performance, and keep detailed records of serviced machines to maintain a history of repairs for each piece of equipment.
Responsibilities
Assist with the installation, maintenance, calibration, and repair of equipment
Inspect, test, and diagnose faulty operations and parts in heavy equipment
Perform regular equipment safety and maintenance inspections
Diagnose and repair malfunctions in diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and other components
Disassemble and reassemble heavy equipment and components
Conduct routine maintenance checks on vehicles and equipment
Interpret technical manuals, diagnostic charts, and schematics
Order parts necessary for equipment repair and maintenance
Communicate with equipment operators to understand equipment problems
Test repaired equipment to ensure proper operational performance
Keep detailed records of serviced machinesEssential Skills
1-3 years of experience in heavy equipment repair
Knowledge of dozers, wheel loaders, sweepers, forklifts, and manlifts
Good troubleshooting skills
Ability to lift up to 100 lbs
Strong mechanical aptitude and technical learning ability
Excellent written and verbal communication skillsAdditional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with diesel engines, hydraulics, and preventive maintenance
Skills in operating and repairing forklifts, excavators, and other heavy equipment

Tasks are performed indoors and outdoors in all types of weather conditions. This is a contract position based out of Tampa, Florida.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr.
