Job Summary:
As an Automation Engineer at CPP, your core responsibilities will encompass the design, programming, maintenance, and troubleshooting of PLC control systems specifically tailored for an aerospace investment casting manufacturing environment. Proficiency in ladder logic programming is essential, and while experience with robotics (especially Fanuc and Kawasaki) and ignition programming is advantageous, it's not a requirement. Your contributions will play a vital role in enhancing the efficiency and continuous improvement of our automated manufacturing systems.
Primary Responsibilities:
Design and implement automation systems to enhance efficiency and reliability in the investment casting process.
Program and troubleshoot PLCs, robotic systems, and automated equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
Diagnose and resolve issues related to PLC-controlled systems, sensors, motors, and actuators.
Identify areas for improvement within automation systems to boost efficiency and reduce production downtime.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of automated solutions.
Create and maintain documentation including system designs and operating procedures.
Provide training and support for maintenance teams and operators on PLC programming and control system troubleshooting.
Stay updated on advancements in automation technologies and apply innovative solutions to enhance CPP processes.
Conduct root cause analysis and support continuous improvement initiatives to resolve production challenges.
Ensure compliance with safety policies, practices, and procedures.
Assisting with robotic systems (preferably Fanuc and Kawasaki) is advantageous, but not required.
Support ignition systems programming and troubleshooting as needed.
Be flexible with working hours as needed.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Automation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years in automation engineering, ideally in investment casting or similar manufacturing settings.
PLC Programming: Strong experience with ladder logic programming on Allen-Bradley or similar PLC platforms.
Automation Systems Experience: Solid background in automation systems, including various sensors, actuators, and drives.
Problem-Solving Skills: Exceptional troubleshooting abilities to resolve complex automation issues.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for collaboration and training.
Safety Focus: Understanding of safety regulations in manufacturing environments.
Robotics Experience: Hands-on experience with robotic systems like Fanuc and Kawasaki is a plus but not mandatory.
Ignition Programming: Knowledge of ignition systems in aerospace or manufacturing is beneficial.
Working Environment:
Shop floor and office settings.
Physical Demands: Ability to sit or stand for extended periods; may involve lifting up to 50 lbs.
Required PPE: Varies by area, follow supervisor guidelines for recommendations.
Travel: Occasionally required to travel to other sites.
Safety Gear: Safety glasses and steel-toe shoes are mandatory in all plant areas.
