JOB SUMMARY
The Apprentice Electrician is responsible for assisting with troubleshooting and ensuring quality repairs to plant equipment and electrical systems in a safe, efficient, and productive manner. This position will help ensure that those electrical systems are running properly and performing to their highest capabilities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assist with installing and repairing electrical components, equipment, or systems
Support other Electricians as needed and with special projects
Maintain electronic and process control equipment
Test electrical equipment or systems to ensure the proper functioning
Inspect electrical or electronic systems for defects
Troubleshoot and repair AC/DC motor controls and drives
Assist in lifting, positioning, and fastening objects, such as wiring, conduit, and motors
Perform minor repairs, such as replacing fuses, light sockets, bulbs, and switches
Load, transport, unload, and furnish other Electricians with materials, equipment, tools, and supplies
Under direct supervision, operate mobile equipment in a safe and efficient manner
Partner with Engineering and outside contracted vendors to meet deadlines and complete repairs, upgrades, and capital improvement projects
Commute between work locations and maintain responsibility for standard tools and equipment needed to perform assigned tasks
Complete all needed paperwork in a timely and accurate manner
Maintain a high level of safety awareness by following all safety and environmental rules, regulations, and procedures as set forth by company policies and MSHA
Perform housekeeping duties and heavy labor, as required
May be responsible for welding associated with the above duties
Reliable, regular attendance at the worksite or assigned work location
Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required
Technical electrical degree preferred
Some industrial electrical experience required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to learn to read and comprehend electrical wiring schematics
Have a positive attitude and proactive approach to our safety program
Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and good driving record
Good safety, behavior, and attendance record
Ability to work collectively in a team environment with other co-workers and managers
Excellent verbal, written, and comprehension communication skills
Ability to work near, around, or on light or heavy equipment
Ability to work outside in all weather conditions to include confined spaces and heights
Ability to be on call and work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, nights, overtime, and weekends as required
Ability to travel for work
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Lift objects of various dimensions and up to 75 lbs. occasionally and 50 lbs. frequently
Ability to repeatedly climb stairs and ladders
Ability to repeatedly balance, bend from the trunk, crawl, kneel, push and pull objects
Ability to use vibration producing tools frequently
Ability to tolerate working outdoors in all environmental temperatures and weather conditions
Ability to repeatedly reach, squat, and tolerate prolonged standing/walking/sitting
Ability to frequently walk on uneven surfaces
