MBS is hiring an Applications Engineer in Erlanger, KY. This position is a full-time, direct hire opportunity.

FULL JOB DESCRIPTION

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and optimize probing, tool-setting, and in-process measurement cycles for CNC machines.

Write and refine macro programs for CNC automation and efficiency improvements.

Conduct cycle time studies and process evaluations to identify potential optimizations.

Customize post-processors and CNC configurations to align with customer needs.

Provide guidance on best practices for probe calibration, tool measurement, and in-process gauging.

Assist customers with CNC programming challenges and metrology integration.

Evaluate customer machining processes and recommend software and automation improvements.

Support the Sales and Product Management teams in configuring and demonstrating metrology solutions.

Work on internal R&D projects to refine and expand automation capabilities within CNC machining.

Create and deliver technical training materials for CNC probing and automation best practices.

Develop application notes, white papers, and programming guides for internal and external use.

Provide documentation and support for new software features and tool-setting technologies.

REQUIREMENTS

5-6 years of experience in CNC programming and machine tool applications.

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience.

Extensive experience with CNC probing, metrology, and automation applications.

Strong background in CNC control programming (Fanuc, Heidenhain, Siemens, etc.).

Experience with cycle time optimization, process improvement, and automation scripting.

Expertise in CNC programming, probing cycles, tool-setting macros, and automation logic.

Proficiency in Fanuc, Heidenhain, and Siemens CNC controls.

Strong knowledge of G-code, macro programming, and post-processor customization.

Understanding of metrology equipment, optical measurement systems, and calibration procedures.

Familiarity with calipers, micrometers, indicators, and electronic diagnostic tools.

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Strong communication and technical writing abilities.

Ability to work independently and collaborate with technical teams.

Valid driver’s license and ability to travel occasionally to customer sites as needed.

Remote-based position with up to 75% travel for on-site support, assessments, training, or product demonstrations.

Work involves collaboration with internal teams and customers via virtual meetings, email, and technical reports.

Some extended hours may be required for critical project deadlines.
