Key duties include receiving and decontaminating instruments, assembling surgical trays, operating sterilizers (steam, Sterrad, Steris), and ensuring proper documentation and biological indicator validation. They assist with patient transport, positioning, room turnover, cleaning, and stocking supplies, while maintaining safety protocols and adhering to policies. The role involves cleaning equipment, supporting emergency procedures like CPR, and ensuring compliance with sterilization standards. Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, certification (CSPDT or CRCST) or relevant experience, and BLS certification. The technician must demonstrate multitasking, attention to detail, teamwork, and a commitment to process improvement in a fast-paced environment. Computer skills in Microsoft Office are required.
