Position Overview We are seeking a hands-on metal spinning Engineer to support and improve operations in our metal spinning and flow forming department.

This role works directly on the shop floor with operators and technicians to enhance process repeatability, reduce setup time, troubleshoot production issues, and optimize tooling and CNC programs.

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, data-driven, and motivated to improve productivity, safety, and quality through practical, real-world solutions.

Key ResponsibilitiesSupport daily spin machine operations by making real-time adjustments and assisting with setups and tooling changesDevelop and document repeatable setup and forming procedures to improve consistency across shiftsCollaborate with engineers and programmers to refine CNC spin programs for cycle time and quality improvementsProvide feedback on part design and manufacturability for spinning and flow forming processesCreate visual work instructions and training materials to support operator development and process standardizationDesign and implement fixtures, tooling, and ergonomic aids to streamline setups and reduce operator fatiguePartner with maintenance to establish operator-level preventive maintenance proceduresAnalyze department layout and workflow to identify bottlenecks and improvement opportunitiesSupport inspection and in-process quality standardization to ensure consistent part conformity Qualifications2–5 years of experience in manufacturing, process improvement, or production engineering, ideally in metal forming or spinningProficiency in SolidWorks or CAD; experience with CAM software a plusComfortable working directly on the shop floor with operators and techniciansStrong mechanical aptitude and hands-on problem-solving abilityExperience creating technical documentation, visual aids, or training materialsBachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering preferred (or equivalent experience)Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset Why Join ASTWork with cutting-edge aerospace and automotive technology in a collaborative, fast-paced environmentDirectly impact process improvement, efficiency, and safety in a core production departmentCompetitive pay and full benefits package, including:Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance401(k) with Company MatchCompany-Paid Life & Disability InsurancePaid Holidays, Vacation, and Sick Leave Pay Range: $85,000 – $125,000 per year (commensurate with experience) Schedule: Monday–Friday Full-Time ~40 hours per week Engineer Innovation at the Core of Manufacturing If you’re a hands-on engineer who thrives on the shop floor and enjoys solving complex manufacturing challenges, join AST and help us advance the future of flow forming and precision metal spinning.
