Azure Technical Project Manager

Job Description

Our Manhattan based financial services client is seeking an Azure Technical Project Manager for a long-term, hybrid contract role with proven expertise in leading technology and data governance initiatives within the banking\financial services sector.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Lead and manage enterprise projects focused on Azure API Management (APIM), Microsoft Purview, and broader Azure data services

• Track project milestones, deliverables, and dependencies across cross-functional teams

• Collaborate with technical leads and consultants to ensure timely delivery of APIM, Purview, Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions, and Azure Service Bus solutions

• Develop and maintain project plans, status reports, and executive-level updates

• Facilitate communication between business stakeholders, data governance teams, and technical teams

• Identify project risks and issues, and develop mitigation and resolution strategies

• Ensure projects comply with banking regulations, security, and data governance standards

• Drive adoption of best practices for data governance, metadata management, and API lifecycle management

• Leverage Azure DevOps Projects, Boards, Sprints, and Work Items for effective project tracking and delivery

Required

• Proven experience managing projects in the banking/financial services industry

• Strong background in data governance and regulatory compliance in financial institutions

• Experience with Microsoft Azure services, including Purview, API Management (APIM), Data Factory, Functions, Service Bus, Synapse, and Databricks

• Solid understanding of enterprise data governance practices, metadata management, and MDM

• Hands-on knowledge of Azure DevOps Projects, Boards, Sprints, and Work Items

• Demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional teams and deliver complex cloud/data projects

• Strong project management skills, including scheduling, reporting, and risk management

• Excellent oral, written communication, and stakeholder management skills

• 7+ years of project management experience, with at least 3 years focused on data governance or cloud technology initiatives
