Research Assistant/Doctoral Candidate in Argumentative AI and Natural Language Processing (NLP) (m/f/d) 100 % (limited, by 01.11.2025) Your tasks Design and develop a multi-layered evaluation framework for reasoning in Argumentative AI Build interactive interfaces for annotation, model evaluation, and expert feedback Conduct user studies to assess usability and reasoning quality of LLM-generated output Collaborate with domain experts to align evaluation methods with philosophical concepts Contribute to NLP/AI and interdisciplinary publications as well as the broader development of evaluation standards in AI reasoning The position is linked to a doctorate in this subject area.

Your profile Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Computational Linguistics, or a related discipline Demonstrated interest or experience in Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Argumentative AI Familiarity with Natural Language Inference (NLI), corpus creation, and evaluation methodologies is a strong plus Interest or experience in human–AI interaction, argumentation theory, or AI ethics is a plus Strong programming skills in Python Experience in web/frontend development (e.g., React, Vue, or similar frameworks) is an advantage Excellent communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to work in interdisciplinary teams Diligent, responsible, structured, goal-oriented, and independent working style Very good command of spoken and written English Our research at the Chair of Data Science and Natural Language Processing at the Institute of Computer Science (ICS-HSG) focuses on the areas of large language models (LLMs) and quantitative data science.
