Description of Work Employees in this class are characterized by the performance of routine practical nursing work in the care and treatment of patients, under the supervision of a Professional Nurse or Nurse Supervisor.
Employees in this class participate in nursing assessments, provide personal care of patients/inmates, take routine vital signs, feed patients, monitor intake and output, collect specimens, change aseptic dressings, deliver routine respiratory therapy and other treatments, catheter and colostomy care, stock supplies, admit patients, give routine medications and assist the Registered Nurse and Physician as needed.

Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $20.57 (Based on education and/or relevant work experience indicated on application.) Average 24 hours per work week This temporary position will be assigned to DPS Prisons Administrative Services.
Position will: Provide professional nursing care and treatment in accordance with medical protocols.
Work independently to carry out nursing processes to offenders arriving at the Sandy Ridge Bus Terminal on transfer buses.
Responsible for overseeing the daily nursing care activities to include administering medications and treatments as directed by physician.
Responsible for appropriate treatment and medical documentation.
Work is performed under the general supervision of a Lead Nurse or Nurse Supervisor.
Effective July 1, 2025, candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the minimum education and experience listed from the class specification.
