Position Scope

The Nurse Educator - College of Nursing Liaison is responsible for student nurse and graduate nurse placement and onboarding, clinical instructor onboarding, and communication and documentation of all clinical placements. The position serves as an educational consultant within The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Health System, supporting an evidence-based transition to practice programming, cultivating collaboration, mutual respect, and expert nursing care. This position also provides academic teaching support at the Ohio State University College of Nursing (OSU CON).

Position Summary:

This position is a 12-month, full-time, associated faculty role. The Nurse Educator - College of Nursing Liaison arranges clinical experiences for OSU CON students and other affiliate colleges that have legal educational agreements with The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Health System. Ensures onboarding paperwork and procedures are completed for affiliate school students and instructors to allow for proper learning opportunities while at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Health System. Manages orientation of clinical instructors by updating policies/procedures and confirming completion of materials. Provides education and training of OSU CON students; oral and written evaluations of nursing students’ education, if appropriate; pursues new, updated, and continual maintenance of knowledge as it relates to the curriculum; assists with curriculum development and provides suggestions on continuous improvement of courses offered by The OSU CON. Participates in planning and implementing an evidence-based transition to practice programming to meet staff and organizational goals. Supports performance improvement and quality assurance activities in the development, implementation, and evaluation of standards of practice within the oncology specialty areas.

Performance Objectives

Coordinate and manage clinical placements for OSU CON and affiliate college students, ensuring legal compliance, educational alignment, and seamless integration into The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUWMC) environments.

Oversee onboarding processes for students and clinical instructors by maintaining accurate documentation, updating orientation materials, and ensuring timely completion of institutional requirements.

Develop and maintain onboarding materials for clinical instructors, including updated policies, procedures and orientation resources.

Deliver high-quality instruction and mentorship to OSU CON nursing students using evidence-based teaching strategies, simulation, and adult learning principles.

Collaborate with affiliated colleges of nursing faculty to revise and enhance curriculum based on current nursing practices and educational needs.

Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for nursing courses, integrating feedback from students, faculty and clinical staff.

Serve as a liaison between academic and practice-oriented teams, promoting alignment of educational goals with clinical practice standards.

Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness through data collection, feedback analysis, and outcome measurement, suggesting adjustments as needed.

Serve as an educational consultant within the OSUWMC promoting best practices and continuous learning.

Serve as a liaison between OSU CON and practice oriented partners, fostering collaboration, mutual respect and alignment of academic and clinical objectives.

Cultivate interdisciplinary relationships across academic and healthcare teams to promote shared learning and integrated care delivery.

Demonstrate effective leadership and communication skills in interactions with students, faculty, hospital nursing leaders, instructors and clinical staff.-

Foster a culture of collaboration and mutual respect.

Engage in scholarly activities including research, evidence-based practice, presentations or publications that contribute to nursing education and practice.

Maintain active licensure and pursue ongoing professional development, staying current with clinical trends, educational methodologies, and regulatory requirements.

Education and Experience Requirements

Required: Doctorate Degree required; current Ohio RN license; progressive experience in leadership, clinical, or educational role; experience in staff development practice desired. Strong leadership skills, effective communication, problem-solving, and strong organizational skills. Interest in learning and teaching new skills. Recent teaching experience through employment or community activities. Experience with, commitment to, and competence in dealing with diverse adult populations. Strong facilitation and presentation skills.

Ongoing: Demonstrates competence in technical, interpersonal, educational, and cognitive skills required to meet essential job functions; maintains current Ohio RN license and meets mandatory educational and health requirements; maintains and seeks new knowledge related to patient care issues, quality improvement and cost reduction, current policies, procedures, and protocols.
