An exciting opportunity has arisen in Defence Services team for a Program Lead supporting our Legacy & Naval Used Material IPT. The role is key to delivering our MRO and Material Services to our Legacy & Naval Programs and in doing so enable and maintain our near, medium & long-term income streams for Rolls-Royce Defence Services from these operations.

The UMVS is a strong customer-focussed team with accountability for planning stand up and delivery of both capability & capacity for taking used or unserviceable material and processing it into available serviceable assets to maximise cash and customer engine & module availability. The Used Material Business has grown to be recognized as a key and cost-effective supply chain for MRO and Spares related piece part demand. Central to its vision & mission are the principles of the 4 R’s, Repair – Develop stand up and delivery of component repair, Re-inspect – To identify and execute the Re-inspection of material stored within RR with a view to re-certify for immediate use, repair and or reuse through additional engineering alleviation; Reacquisition – To seek opportunities for material purchase and buy-back from our Customer Base or external material stockiest’ s & Revert – Disposal/sale of unwanted/unusable material

With a scope of over five Legacy & Naval engine types serving multiple internal and external customer delivery streams, the role brings with it a wide breath of opportunities and challenges in shaping & executing our used material customer deliverables. This will include leading the flow down of our businesses used material demands onto our internal & external supply chains, securing capacity & capability from these teams, developing and standing up new repair schemes and capabilities with the support of our extended UMVS repair engineering teams.

What you will be doing

Act as focal point to Manage & Coordinate Accessory/Line Replacement Unit (LRU) demand in line with the JPR commitment acceptance planning cycle

Lead, manage and co-ordinate the Naval Marine (NM) Accessory Repair Governance via Kanbanize

Work closely with the UMVS PM to create and govern Legacy and NM Repair Development and Capability Stand-Up within the confines of the Repair Exec process and Support the development of commodity strategies and specifically develop the strategy for un-committed WR21 In-Load

Work with the Supplier Management Team (SMT) and Asset Control team to efficiently manage the movement of repair material to balance demand/supply through external vendors (in line with agreed plan)

Create and present UMVS status and performance reports at Internal Programme Review meetings and External Customer Reviews and review task progress against committed plans to identify when corrective action is required.

You will be able to scope good ideas for change and improvements by drawing on a strong understanding of how Defence Services operates. You will also have a clear understanding of Aerospace best practices, methods and tools.

The professional level and salary of the position will be dependent on the skills and experience of the successful candidate but is anticipated to be Staff Grade 7-10.
