Location: Pikeville, KY 41501 (Appalachian region)
Healthcare Setting: 7A Medical Surgical Unit
Assignment Type: Travel Nursing Contract
Start Date: November 10, 2025
End Date: February 7, 2026
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 12-hour night shifts
Shifts per Week: 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each
Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week
Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1,630–$1,750 per week (estimated)
Registered Nurse Qualifications
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Kentucky or compact state
Associate’s degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Current certifications: CPR, BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and EKG
Minimum 2 years of recent medical-surgical (Med/Surg) nursing experience (5 years preferred)
Previous travel nursing experience required
Med/Surg RN Responsibilities
Deliver direct, individualized patient care to young adults, adults, and geriatric patients in a medical-surgical setting
Perform comprehensive head-to-toe nursing assessments and re-assessments
Monitor and interpret cardiac status; intervene as needed
Administer medications, IV therapy, and specialized IV drips
Manage pain, sedation, and provide chest tube care/insertion
Care for patients before and after cardiac catheterization procedures
Access central lines and manage blood transfusion therapy
Maintain accurate, timely documentation of all patient care activities
Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members and involve patients and families in care planning
Supervise, mentor, and precept new healthcare staff and nursing employees
Participate in performance improvement initiatives and ongoing clinical education
Comply with infection control, patient safety, and hospital policies
