Description of assignment

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Intern to join our team to support a project focused on automating our configuration generation process using AI. Vanderlande serves many customers, each with multiple sites that periodically request software updates for improved functionality and efficiency. These updates may introduce new features, and our service team uses the latest R&D-developed C++ software to generate updated configurations. Currently, preparing a new configuration involves reviewing technical documents, EM drawings, release notes, and other resources, taking approximately 2–3 weeks per site.

In this internship, you will analyze the feasibility of automating this process using AI and develop one working example for a single site. The goal is to evaluate the potential time savings and efficiency improvements that AI-driven automation can bring to our configuration preparation workflow. This role provides hands-on experience with real-world systems, collaboration with engineers, and the opportunity to contribute to an innovative project aimed at improving customer service processes

Department description

You will be joining the AMZ DSD (Amazon Dedicated Service Department) team within Vanderlande’s Service business unit. The team operates at the intersection of high-performance logistics, customer support, and technical innovation, closely collaborating with global AMZ FCs and various internal departments. The working environment is dynamic and multidisciplinary, where collaboration, creativity, and initiative are highly valued. Interns are treated as full team members, actively contributing to impactful projects and strategic discussions.

Tasks/responsibilities

Analyze the current configuration generation process and identify opportunities for automation using AI.

Develop a working AI-based example to generate a configuration for one customer site.

Review technical documents, EM drawings, and release notes as part of the configuration process.

Collaborate with service team members to understand requirements and workflows.

Evaluate and report on potential time savings, efficiency gains, and feasibility of scaling automation.

Document findings, workflows, and best practices for potential future implementation.

Your profile

Proactive attitude and problem-solving mindset

Experience or interest in AI, scripting (e.g., Python), and dashboarding tools (e.g., Power BI, Grafana)

Basic knowledge of networking or industrial systems is a plus

Passion for sustainability and innovation

Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and in a team
