The role

As a Production Support Operative, you’ll be at the heart of our submarine refit operations, combining your expertise in slinging and scaffolding to support the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of nuclear facilities. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to one of the UK’s most critical defence programmes, where your work will directly impact national security and operational readiness.

Day-to-day, you’ll perform slinging and scaffolding tasks including lifting operations, rigging, scaffold erection and inspections.

Supporting construction, maintenance, and decommissioning activities on a nuclear-licensed site

Ensuring scaffolding structures are tagged and compliant

Using fall protection equipment and working safely at heights

Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to maintain continuous facility operations

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.

Essential experience of the Production Support Operative

Experience working at heights

Skilled in erecting, modifying and dismantling scaffolding structures

Proficient in using fall protection systems

Knowledge of scaffolding compliance and tagging procedures

Qualifications for the Production Support Operative

CISRS certification

NPORS or CPCS Slinger Signaller qualification

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
