Salary: 23.00 to 30.00 per hour DOE
PRIMARY FUNCTION: This position complies with P.L. 107-110, NCLB Act of 2001. The Residential Advisor shall perform childcare to young residential students within a dormitory environment, which assures the functioning of a well-balanced home living program for students who reside in a Bureau of Indian Education dormitory on a 24-hour basis. The Residential Advisor shall provide residential students with effective, orderly, meaningful, and safe place to learn so that each student will achieve his/her social, psychological, and cultural potential and to meet the academic challenges of Aztec High School. In addition, the Residential Advisor shall provide necessary guidance to high school age students to take care of themselves.
QUALIFICATION:
Associates Degree from an accredited institution in the fields of: child development, education, behavioral science and cultural studies. - Preferred
OR 32 post-secondary semester hours or (48 quarter hours) in an applicable academic discipline, including fields related to working with children in the fields of: child development, education, behavioral science, and cultural studies - Preferred
Must have a Valid Driver's License and current motor vehicle
Must have experience with educational or recreational programs in a school setting with a predominate Native American Indian high student population. -P
Must be able to use computers and other office equipment.

Ability to pass required background
Must receive CPR and First Aide certification withing 90 days of hire.

INDIAN PREFERENCE: Preferential consideration for employment will be given to persons of documented Navajo, American Indian or Alaskan Native Tribal membership who meet the qualifications above, in accordance with the requirements of P.L. 100-297 and the Navajo Nation Tribal Code.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Organize and facilitate Students activities at the Campus
Supports and efficiently carries out responsibilities in accordance with Kinteel Residential Campus, policies and procedures.
Provide professional services to students and guests and greeting them courteously, determines and handles their needs and directs or escorts them to proper
Responsible for full range of assistant work associated with residential life of boarding students and is responsible for the welfare of the residential students in the assigned unit as well as student health, welfare, and security and safety of the residential students during the night
Responsible for taking attendance at specified
Responsible for performing childcare juvenile or young adult related duties in a dormitory environment which assures the functioning of a well-balanced home living program in addressing their social, cultural, mental, physical, and emotional
Responsible for supervising the students assigned to clean-up and other work details in and around the residential campus and assures they work in compliance with appropriate safety rules and regulations and without the use of hazardous materials or
Responsible for ensuring the functions of practical instruction and guidance of the student during out of school hours, i.e., always monitoring student; mentoring, abiding by KRCI rules and
Responsible for proper instruction and/or coaching student for personal hygiene care of clothing, grooming, good manners, lockers, handling of money, conduct, adjustment, respect of property and
Responsible for preparing teaching aids and may present formal lesson plans under the direction of the Lead Residential Advisor. Improve on working with students; communicating and understanding the constant changes and challenges of teenagers/adolescents; initiate reference materials through research as needed. Makes recommendations to Guidance Counselor and/or Lead Residential Advisor as
Responsible for giving guidance and assigning students with assigned work detail, i.e. cleaning in the living
Responsible for providing home living experiences, administering medication and home nursing care and insuring appropriate medical and law enforcement services, or other emergency services, as
Ensure that student's problems are handled in an appropriate manner and/or refer them to the Lead Residential Advisor, submitting attendance reports, incident reports and/or SCAN forms in a timely
Encourage students that the Residential staff are there for guidance and communicate to students the importance of achieving academic achievement and continuing higher
Listen to the students and on occasion understand that you might have to do basic coaching, research, helping with homework and problem
Communicate and work with the Lead Residential Advisor on matters relating to the students': attendance, restriction procedures, incident reports with other
Pertinent information (i.e., SCAN, referrals to Social Services and/or CPS, etc.) involving student's behavior and responsibilities.
Responsible for implementing emergency calls and Completing and maintaining administrative records and reports.

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Full Time Employment Contract renewable annually by Board of Trustees with recommendation by Lead Residential advisor as per Job Performance Evaluation. Hourly pay rate set on a scale based on qualification, education, and experience. Employee works 40 hours per week.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Small, multiple person office at KRCI. Frequent interaction with staff, students, parents, and guests. Moderate incoming telephone calls. Frequent long periods of standing, walking KRCI grounds to monitor students. Being involved in the PIAP reporting requirements.
