Job Summary
The El Dorado County Office of Education Charter Alternative Programs is seeking a talented individual to join our Charter Administration team as a principal, providing comprehensive oversight of the unique charter program, Mountainside Middle College High School. This innovative learning model provides a high-quality alternative educational option, offering an enriching experience for students in grades 9-12, with a focus on student engagement and relationship-building.
Students at MCHS have the opportunity to earn college credits while enrolled in High School and complete an AA, AS degree through dual enrollment with Folsom Lake College. Alternatively, students might pursue an IGETC certificate, which certifies that they have completed the general education requirements for the University of California or California State University. FLC also features a wide variety of Career Technical Education certificates for students interested in entering the workforce after high school. The program provides supports for the dual enrollment college classes through a sequence of Advisory courses. These courses focus on the skills students need to be successful in both high school and college, such as study skills, time management, and effective communication. Students also have the support of a Homeroom teacher, who helps them track their learning.
Mountainside is a program for students interested in taking high school and community college courses simultaneously. The format is modeled after a university, utilizing a hybrid learning approach. Students attend classes in person twice a week and work on assignments independently online three days a week. The staff and students utilize Canvas to access, monitor, and complete assignments
