Description
As part of the Parks and Recreation team, reporting directly to the Recreation Superintendent, this position implements and oversees the overall operations of the City's three outdoor swimming pools, the indoor pool at the Bob Crane Community Center and aquatic programs. This position manages and works with a Full Time Aquatics Coordinator on our city aquatic operations.

Examples of Duties
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: For purposes of 42 USC 12101:
1. Supervises assigned staff (e.g., recommends and develops policy; interviews applicants; recommends hiring, discipline, and firing; leads, motivates, collaborates, empowers, rewards, coaches, and praises; trains and instructs employees; assigns and directs work; appraises and evaluates performance; addresses complaints and resolves problems); directs day-to-day operations of the outdoor swimming pools and tennis courts; assists in recommending budget items; request purchase orders; maintains personnel records of staff.
2. Develops, manages, and schedules aquatic programming (e.g., classes, swim meets, swim lessons, lap swimming, youth swim team, and other aquatic/tennis programs) and manages nonaquatic facilities and programs as instructed; resolves customer complaints.
3. Manages aquatic facilities; monitors and maintains proper chemical water balance; monitors and maintains numerous chlorinating systems, pumps, water filtration systems, water slides, diving boards, spray features, in-water playground equipment, etc.
4. Prepares and submits advertising for outdoor and indoor aquatic programs.
5. Assists with purchasing, develops bid specifications, and monitors the program and membership sales, reporting processes and other business transactions.
6. Maintains licenses and certifications as required, if any.
7. Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
8. Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to essential functions.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Typical Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Public Relations, Recreation or a related field, and one (1) to two (2) years of progressively responsible related experience; or any combination of training, education, or experience which provides the desired knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Certified as Water Safety Instructor; Lifeguard Training; CPR and First Aid Certification; Certified Pool Operator or Aquatic Facility Operator License (required to be obtained within six months from hire); valid State of Ohio Driver's License and the ability to maintain insurability under the City's vehicle insurance policy.

INHERENTLY HAZARDOUS OR PHYSICALLY DEMANDING WORKING CONDITIONS:
The employee has exposure to chemical compounds found in an office environment as well as aquatic facilities (e.g., chlorine, muriatic acid, toner, correction fluid, etc.); is exposed to possible injury from unclean or unsanitary conditions; works with moving mechanical parts of equipment of machines; is exposed to wet, humid, and hot weather conditions; works in or around crowds; may work an irregular shift; is required to be on-call; regularly required to lift, carry, push or pull objects 50 lbs. or less; occasionally required to lift, carry, push, or pull objects 75 lbs. or less.
Note: In accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor physical demands strength ratings, this is considered medium to heavy work.
