Position: Laboratory Manager

Job Summary: The Laboratory Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of laboratory services, from collection to testing, across all Lighthouse treatment center locations. This role ensures high-quality and efficient laboratory processes by providing hands-on support with a strong commitment to client-centered care, sample integrity and documentation compliance. This position reports to the Director of Laboratory Operations.

Duties and Responsibilities: Duties include, but are not limited to:

Leadership & Operations

Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate laboratory staff across all treatment center locations.

Provide coaching, mentoring, and corrective action to support staff accountability and professional development, in collaboration with Human Resources.

Schedule and allocate staff resources to ensure consistent laboratory coverage and efficiency.

Oversee daily laboratory operations to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and quality of services.

Develop, implement, and standardize laboratory workflows and procedures across sites to promote efficiency and scalability.

Monitor productivity, quality metrics, and compliance standards, reporting deviations with recommendations for resolution.

Manage laboratory inventory and equipment, including procurement, maintenance, and calibration.

Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance sample collection, turnaround times, and client satisfaction.

Participate in the setup and launch of new treatment center laboratories.

Respond to and resolve patient and client concerns promptly and professionally.

Collaborate with treatment teams, medical providers, sales staff, logistics, and senior leadership to ensure seamless laboratory support.

Quality & Compliance

Establish and maintain quality control procedures to ensure accurate and reliable laboratory results in accordance with CLIA, OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control standards.

Conduct regular audits and assessments of laboratory practices to identify and address gaps or deficiencies.

Ensure documentation compliance, including inventory logs, testing records, billing, and regulatory reports.

Technical & Clinical Duties (as needed)

Support laboratory staff with specimen preparation, accessioning, labeling, aliquoting, and processing while maintaining sample integrity.

Perform moderate- and high-complexity toxicology and chemistry testing, including troubleshooting instrumentation and validating quality control results.

Conduct observed and unobserved urine collections and perform point-of-care testing using CLIA-waived devices.

Utilize the Laboratory Information System (LIS) to receive samples, process results, and generate reports.

Enter results into client electronic medical records (EMR) and alert clinical staff to abnormal findings per policy.

Complete billing data entry in accordance with established procedures.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Valid State of Ohio Driver's License and insurance

Must pass BCI check, all Corporate Compliance checks, and employment drug screen

Desired Experience/Abilities:

MLT or CLS certification

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interface with clients, staff, and leadership

Understanding of CLIA, HIPAA, and other regulatory requirements

Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and Outlook), electronic health records (EHR) and Laboratory Information Systems (LIS)

Familiarity with lab testing procedures, sample handling, and infection control standards

Ability to lift and move laboratory equipment and supplies as needed
