In this role, you will become a key part of our Financial Lines team, training to be our go-to expert in Professional Indemnity (PI) insurance in Denmark. PI is a critical form of coverage designed to protect professionals and businesses against claims of negligence, errors, or omissions in the services they provide. It plays a vital role in industries where expertise and advice are central, such as law, consultancy, and engineering.
As part of your journey, you will also gain hands-on training in other Financial Lines products, including Cyber Insurance, an increasingly essential area in today’s digital landscape.
This position is based in our centrally located Copenhagen office and serves clients across the Nordic region - Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden.
What’s in it for you?
At AIG, we pride ourselves on fostering a culture of professional excellence and a healthy work-life balance.
Here’s what you can expect:
We believe in a “Learn-It-All” culture. You will get access to our internal learning platform, Underwriting University and live classroom trainings, as well as LinkedIn Learning to ensure your continuous professional development.
Although you will be our PI specialist in Denmark, you are never alone. You will have a dedicated senior sparring partner in Sweden, access to regional specialists, and close collaboration with experienced Danish colleagues within Financial Lines.
You will be part of a professional and supportive Nordic culture, where your growth and well-being are a priority, as well as opportunities to work with our international teams within AIG’s global network.
A competitive compensation package, including a bonus plan, pension, and well-being benefits, as well as an additional 10 days of paid leave annually (five weeks + ten top-up days).
Your impact and responsibilities
As a Junior Underwriter, you will work towards becoming a full-fledged PI Underwriter, supporting existing clients and generating new business opportunities. Your key responsibilities include:
Assessing risks and analysing financial and legal data to support underwriting decisions.
Structuring and pricing PI insurance policies in alignment with AIG’s strategy.
Driving and developing AIG’s PI portfolio in Denmark and across the Nordics, acting as the central local and regional expert.
Developing strong relationships with brokers and clients, acting as a trusted partner.
Negotiating and tailoring insurance solutions to meet specific client needs.
Working with internal teams, including claims and legal specialists, to provide comprehensive solutions.
What you’ll need to succeed
While previous exposure to insurance (from internships, student jobs, or other entry-level positions) is beneficial, we are looking for a candidate with:
A degree in law, economics, business, or a related field.
Fluency in English and Danish (additional Nordic languages are seen as a plus).
Strong analytical skills, with a solid ability to assess complex risks.
Excellent social and relationship-building skills.
A commercial mindset, with an understanding of how to effectively present AIG’s solutions.
An entrepreneurial spirit and a drive to work independently and take ownership of the Nordic PI product portfolio.
This role requires a high degree of autonomy. While it is not a traditional sales role, the ability to communicate the value of AIG’s products and build strong client relationships is crucial. You will develop consultative selling skills that focus on trust, tailored solutions, and long-term partnerships.
Nordic Financial Lines
You will be part of our Nordic Financial Lines team of 20+ professionals specializing in a wide range of commercial risks. In Denmark, you will be seated with skilled colleagues working on other Financial Lines products, and you will have a close collaboration with a senior PI sparring partner in Sweden as well as access to regional specialists. We operate as a tightly integrated Nordic team where we prioritize collaboration, knowledge sharing, and shared success.
