Starting pay depends on experience.
Shift differential given after 7 pm.
Job Purpose:
Performs radiographic procedures and related techniques, producing images for the interpretation by and at the request of a licensed practitioner to assist in diagnosis. Exercises professional judgment in the performance of services and maintains a demeanor complementary to medical ethics. Provides appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure. Provides patient care/services for all stages of the life span, including pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
Major Work Activities:
Prepares patient for procedures; provides instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
Reviews the schedule of procedures to determine specifications for supplies and equipment.
Uses work time productively
Uses proper radiographic positioning.
Prepares the patient for the exam and provides patient care during the procedure to ensure the patient's health, safety, and well-being.
Participates in cost containment activities.
Uses appropriate radiation protection devices for the patient, self, and others in the radiation area.
Uses proper radiographic technique.
Ensures efficient and proper functioning of equipment.
Follows radiation protection policies when operating equipment.
Ensures continued knowledge of the field through appropriate amounts of continuing education
Ensures radiation safety/protection guidelines are followed.
Ensures a safe, clean, secure work environment and is prepared for emergency conditions.
Compiles, records, and maintains files according to procedure as required for accurate and up-to-date departmental records and/or reports
Maintains coordination of activities with others to accomplish work activities and department goals.
Easily adaptable to changing working schedules.
Capable of handling a stressful environment daily and supporting employees and physicians in a critical patient environment.
Education:
Graduate of an A.M.A. approved school of Radiologic Technology.
Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration:
Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)
Physical Demands:
Walking, standing for long periods of time, lifting patients, objects (10-40 lbs. usually), pushing/pulling mobile equipment, patients in wheelchairs or on stretchers.
Skills and Qualifications:
Good verbal and written communication skills.
CPR certification required.
