Night Shift Plant Operations Team Leader
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Other duties may be assigned.)
Schedule work procedures for the team and communicate any priority work that may supersede the schedule. Oversee the team’s work to assure prompt and accurate completion. Assist team members in completing their work if necessary and assist in solving problems presented to the crew. Support and encourage discussion with the crew about Plant Operations and what issues the crew is experiencing.
Provide direct supervision for the crew by tracking performance, handling disciplinary issues, completing reviews, providing insight on SD1 policies and practices, maintaining time records, conducting regular team meetings, and sharing updates on SD1 events and news. Maintain a positive team atmosphere, manage within the SD1’s culture, promote this culture to the crew, and participate in leadership meetings.
Actively enforce and support the SD1’s safety initiatives and provide safety training to the crew.
Display strong verbal and written communication skills by keeping accurate records on the team’s work, presenting written reports on team situations, communicating the team’s work to the Director of Operations.
The Team Leader should be available to respond to all emergencies related to the plant’s conditions, crew’s work, and may need to work overtime to complete assignments.

Qualifications:
Education/Experience/Licensing:
A minimum of a high school diploma/GED, preferably higher education with a degree or certification in the environmental or business fields.
At least 3 years’ experience in a plant or production environment.
At least 2 years’ experience in a formal leadership role.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Should possess and display a strong knowledge of equipment operations, a willingness to learn and understand the overall plant treatment process and a good mathematical aptitude for process control and management.
• Display the ability to work independently during either a day or night shift operation and to be a creative, participating member of a successful operations crew.
• Display strong interpersonal skills with a positive approach and outlook in order to work cooperatively in a sometimes-challenging physical environment that at times will contain fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, have a risk of electrical shock, exposure to wet and/or humid conditions and in some areas a high noise level or loud environment.
• Must possess knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the work. Must also possess knowledge of the tools, equipment, materials and supplies pertinent to the trade.
• Must be able to read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and drawings; keep records; and follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to maintain sound judgments and decisions based on interpretation of data and known unit goals.
• Team Leaders may be required to work at other treatment plants as staffing and facility needs change.
• Team Leaders must be able to work unscheduled hours during emergency, unusual situations, and/or filling in for vacant shifts, including rotating shifts.
Technology Requirements
Proficient with Microsoft Office products and programs.
Ability to learn CMMS – Lucity, WIMS, and SCADA.
Embraces mobile data collection and data analysis.
