A major insurance organization is implementing a new business integration launching in early 2026 and requires a comprehensive employee training program to support the transition. Weâ re seeking a mid-level Instructional Designer / Training Developer to collaborate with an internal subject matter expert (SME) to design and build blended learning materials that prepare employees for this change. The consultant will focus on content development and build, transforming existing materials into engaging, instructionally sound learning experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Partner closely with the internal SME to design and develop blended learning materials supporting business integration.
Convert existing instructor-led and PowerPoint materials into engaging eLearning modules using Articulate Rise and Storyline.
Develop clear, visually engaging PowerPoint-based learning assets for instructor-led delivery.
Apply sound instructional design principles to create effective, learner-focused training solutions.
Ensure technical accuracy and instructional integrity while enhancing engagement and knowledge retention.
Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders, providing design recommendations and progress updates.
Deliverables
Approximately 50% eLearning / 50% PowerPoint-based content, ready for launch in March 2026.
All eLearning components built using Articulate 360 (Rise and Storyline).
Blended learning program completed by February 2026, with additional development and refinement through mid-July.
Qualifications
3â 7 years of instructional design experience, preferably within regulated or compliance-driven industries (insurance, finance, healthcare, etc.).
Proven ability to translate technical or policy-based content into engaging learning experiences.
Strong proficiency with Articulate 360 (Rise, Storyline) and PowerPoint.
Experience collaborating with SMEs and cross-functional teams.
Excellent communication, organization, and project management skills.
Ability to manage workload independently and meet tight deadlines.
GTA-based consultants preferred for limited onsite collaboration.
Additional Details
Consultant to provide their own laptop.
Licensing for authoring tools TBD.
AI tools may be used (pending client policy confirmation).
Candidates with extended vacation plans between Novemberâ February will not be considered due to tight delivery timelines.
Start Date: Mid-November 2025
Project Duration: 7 months (through mid-July 2026). Potential for conversion to FTE.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (consistent weekly hours)
Location: Primarily virtual; Greater Toronto Area (GTA) consultants preferred for potential onsite collaboration 1â 2 times per week
Schedule: Flexible hours when working virtually
Travel: None required
The pay range for this is $55.00 to $60.00 per hour on an independent contractor basis. Individual pay is determined by a number of factors, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, relevant education, certifications and specific work location.
